It's a matter of degree. While at the extreme end there are some
Reconstructionist Christians who really do want to bring back slavery,
even close to the "mainstream" of Republican thinking you have people
like Rand Paul who is opposed to portions of the Civil Rights Act. And
you also have a lot of people who are opposed to affirmative action,
opposed to the Equal Rights Amendment, or are basically okay with de
facto class-based segregation in public education.
