Hi, David, "Friendship" is only a word. Its meaning is constructed and determined by speakers or writers in particular contexts.
`Abdu'l-Baha called Baha'is "the Friends" - friends to God and to one another. Since friendship is generally based on having something in common, what could be more a basis for friendship than having accepted Baha'u'llah? On the other hand, that is not to say that other bases for friendship are inappropriate. Both `Abdu'l-Baha and the Guardian had special friends, including the relationship between the Guardian and George Townshend. Mark A.
