Best Route is Kanchipuram-Chengalpattu-Tindivanam-Pondy.

I suggest you take the ECR between Chennai and Pondy, it's one
beautiful road!! Otherwise, I think the fastest, and reasonably
scenic way to Pondy from Bangalore is Bangalore-Krishnagiri-
Tiruvannamalai-Gingee-Villupuram-Pondy.
Tiruvannamalai has some famous temples, and there are some old forts
in Gingee that are worth spending some time in..
And Of course the Tindivanam road isn't too bad either, but I found
it to be a bit more crowded than the Villupuram route.
