Right now I think we don't handle that part very well, and we limit the participation to the project to those who are able to dedicate enough time to follow most of what is happening. I just had a look at the mailing-list configuration, it was configured to send an email either daily, or when a size limit was reached. Which means that every time a big email or a lot of emails were sent, you were receiving several emails per day.
