Yes, but I'm not sure how this could be understood in relation to
copyright assignement or ownership?

The data is owned by the player, and licensed (through the ToS and
privacy policy) to the studio. Trusted project members could have access
to that information though (cheat monitoring, CS...), so it's the
project as a whole that swears to protect the user data.
