This is a bit of an unsupported adventure, so I'd like to caution you read the relevant FAQs and such in the links below. Basically the RIM updates are generic even if they say "For Cingular" and so forth; so I've (like many others) installed the "for Cingular' upgrade on my T-Mobile Pearl. The basic steps are: - install desktop manager - install OS release - delete the magic VENDOR.XML - replace BLACKBERRY.ALX with a "theme unlocked" version - plug in Pearl and run the upgrade Start here, and the Cingular link will download the latest OS for you: http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-software/1871-blackberryos-4-x-download-faq-upgrade-downloads.html Here is the thread of everyone doing the process: http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-8100-series-discussion/60372-blackberry-handheld-software-v4-2-0-88-multilang.html?highlight=4.2.0.88 Here is the "theme-unlocked" ALX files thread from Jibi: http://www.blackberryforums.com/ringtones-themes-wallpaper-discussion/28821-blackberry-alx-edited-files-packaged-theme-installation-4-1-4-2-only.html It sounds scary but really it's not -- my opinion is that a RIM firmware upgrade is actually one of the best ones out there I've seen on the end-user front. Very clean, informative, and straightforward. Remember to re-install the DST time patch if applicable to you after upgrade. -te -- some live, some die in the way of the samurai ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
