Some debugging questions:

Is this error reliably reproducable?

If so, you should be able to see in the GUI what database it is currently
working on.

Use the -d option to turn on debug output, and watch what packet it is
trying to backup when this happens.  If you can post the last few screens
of data when this happens, that would be good.

Are you able to fetch the same database using btool?

        btool -vd "Memos"

You posted this in the Ubuntu 9.10 thread... do you believe this is
related to Ubuntu in some way?
