So, I posted this in the 9.10 thread because that's what I'm using.

I rebooted and it got past memos but hung with a read-timeout on 
messages.  The 2nd attempt with a -d completed without issues.

Next step will be tethering which always worked for me on previous 
versions of Ubuntu.
