Because I want to have multiple instances running at the same time. Your solution doesn't address the problem. I am one USER, not one COMPUTER.

And I didn't realize that asking for feature enhancements was tantamount to asking a company to "cave in to my wishes." How about, I am a paying customer and I am making a legitimate enhancement request. Bare Bones is free to tell it's customers to f-off when making feature requests, then that way they won't be caving in to their customer's requests. It wouldn't be the best business decision, however...
