Evan,
As others have pointed out, but which you apparently fail to realize,
is that the tone of your messages implies that this is more than a
feature request for you.
There are many cases where it would be nice if a program or computer
or what-have-you worked differently than it does. However, when it
doesn't, and isn't likely to change in the near future, most persons
begin to look for work-arounds.
You, however, seem totally uninterested in any work-around. The
message I'm receiving from you is that you want what you want, and if
you don't get it, Bare Bones is a poopy-head organization that will
never get another dime from you.
Also, I know this has been mentioned (by you yourself, in fact), but
BBEdit doesn't limit you to one computer. There's no point in
repeating that "I'm not one computer" mantra.
Finally, as far as I can tell, you have failed to tell us why you
need three or more running instances of BBEdit in different areas of
your home (including one on your "media center" Mac Mini), each
having windows open with unsaved documents. Normally, when one posts
a request for a new or changed feature, he is expected to describe
fully why this is so important.

Your solution doesn't address the problem. I am one USER, not one
COMPUTER.
And I didn't realize that asking for feature enhancements was
tantamount to asking a company to "cave in to my wishes." How
about, I am a paying customer and I am making a legitimate
enhancement request. Bare Bones is free to tell it's customers to f-
off when making feature requests, then that way they won't be
caving in to their customer's requests. It wouldn't be the best
business decision, however...

Seeing as how you're such a great programmer, why not whip up
something that detects when you're not using BBEdit, and have that
script save your work and close BBEdit?
Or, are you not interested in any solution that doesn't involve
Bare Bones caving in to your wishes?
