You, however, seem totally uninterested in any work-around. The message I'm receiving from you is that you want what you want, and if you don't get it, Bare Bones is a poopy-head organization that will never get another dime from you.
It's very simple: I buy products that work the way I want them to work. I don't buy products that don't. Up until I discovered the nag box, I was relatively happy with BBEdit, aside from the painfully slow FTP, cryptic FTP error messages and fact that after years and years of existence, it still doesn't remember what size I like default windows to be. I submitted my window size feature request quietly and it was acknowledged nicely by Bare Bones and never acted upon. That's fine; I don't mind. I don't expect them to bend to my every desire. The fact that the feature request was never acted upon certainly wasn't enough to make me stop using the program or to dissuade me from buying further upgrades.
But being artificially restricted because OTHER people are pirates DOES piss me off, especially when this "feature" is mentioned nowhere by Bare Bones. If Bare Bones had been up front about the nag box, I probably never would have bought the product out of principle.
Some people don't like to be treated like crooks by companies they give their money to. Apparently, you're not one of them. That's fine, but your opinion does not negate mine.
Finally, as far as I can tell, you have failed to tell us why you need three or more running instances of BBEdit in different areas of your home (including one on your "media center" Mac Mini), each having windows open with unsaved documents. Normally, when one posts a request for a new or changed feature, he is expected to describe fully why this is so important.
I want to use the product the way I want. I like to leave the apps open, running all the time. Just because you don't have the same work preferences that I do doesn't make my preferences invalid. Nobody on this list needs to justify why they like working a certain way.
Instead of asking me why I want to use the program the way I want, why not ask Bare Bones why a legitimate user like me must be penalized because other people are untrustworthy?
