At 01:58p -0400 09/07/2006, John Siracusa didst inscribe upon an electronic papyrus:

* App icon - The "B" is in the right font now, but the slant is awful.
The icon shape (a diamond centered in a rectangle) is inherently
perpendicular, and looks bad when slanted, especially at small sizes.
That's probably why the 32x32 and smaller sizes are not slanted, but
unfortunately the Dock only uses the 128x128 size and scales it down.
(No 256x256 or 512x512 sizes?

512x512?? Is that for real or just imagination?

256x256 was created for the forthcoming resolution-independent UI, and even that I thought was nuts. I mean, shouldn't Apple have a *vector* icon ('vicn'?) format for anything above 128x128? Maybe a truetype-hinted 'ictf'? SVG 'icsv'?
