Jakob, it sounds like your mailer is misconfigured. You should make
plain text the default format for sending, because then you will
have fewer problems (and you will then cause fewer problems for
other people who despise HTML mail).
And most mailers allow you to reply in the same format you received
mail in, so while you default to plain text, you can still default to
html-ized stuff when you reply on lists that like that sort of stuff.
