Not only that but consider the difficulty in creating a digest out of
HTML formatted email. Also the disease known as "top-posting without
trim" which makes HTML even worse.

The worst nail in HTML email's coffin is the exceptionally poor taste
many have as to their formatting. How about blue 4 point text on a
purple background? Don't laugh, I've received just that. Sender said,
"Looks OK on my computer, *your* computer must be broken."

The important content of an email is its words, not its format. If the
format of my words are important then I'll attach them as PDF.

If my mother sends me a package with a pretty ribbon attached, then its
the fact its from my mother thats important, not nearly as important as
its contents.
