Not only that but consider the difficulty in creating a digest out of HTML formatted email. Also the disease known as "top-posting without trim" which makes HTML even worse. The worst nail in HTML email's coffin is the exceptionally poor taste many have as to their formatting. How about blue 4 point text on a purple background? Don't laugh, I've received just that. Sender said, "Looks OK on my computer, *your* computer must be broken." The important content of an email is its words, not its format. If the format of my words are important then I'll attach them as PDF.
