Is there a way to authenticate as root while running BBEdit so I
can search those files using BBEdit's interface?
When I'm logged in as a non-admin user and I try to open
/var/log/system.log with BBEdit on my machine, BBEdit prompts me for
an admin username and password. This seems to work whether I open
system.log from the Finder or from Terminal using the
/usr/bin/bbedit tool.
Does this not work for you, or am I missing something here?
When navigating the file open dialog box, the folder owned by root
shows a red minus sign and I cannot see the contents of it in the
dialog.
