I use to grab a folder in the finder, drag it over the BBEdit icon in the dock and have the bbproject (temp, insta, who cares: it looks like a project). I work with the files in it until it's 5pm - now it's time to quit the office and continue ... later. how great it would be if i just could SAVE that project now. sedning bbedit to sleep is not an option: the next morning something _very urgent_ has to be done, and my temp.proj.insta.thing will be closed. gone are the open files... > there's no advantage to using an insta-project and then saving > it; it's just extra steps. Instead, make a new project document > and add the desired folder to it. I do see the advantage in fast creating by dragging a folder. BBEdit's behaviour is (for my 'feeling' very un-mac-like: I've something open but I cannot get-it-saved1 Instead I have to "create-a- real-project-doing-it-in-the-only-official-way-they-intended-this-to- be-done", drag my folder from one window to another, loose info on open files, have to live with that.... grmbbl) > Otherwise, if you want to use an insta-project as a starting > point, go ahead and add files, collections, etc. to it, and when > you go to close it, BBEdit will offer to save it for you. big kotau and thank you for this workaround: from now on I can - drag a folder over bbedit's icon in the dock to get that insta- project - drag a-really-useless-textfile into the insta - click the red close-box - save the project (btw: why is there no checkbox for [ ] hide extension ?) - reopen it - remove the really-useless-textfile - and continue happily thanx a lot. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "BBEdit Talk" discussion group on Google Groups.
