______________________________________________________________________ Hey Folks, I've been using BBEdit since it was freeware, and I like and appreciate the crew at Bare Bones Software. So I want them to get every last cent they can out of my business. (I also own a copy of Yojimbo.) The App-Store version offers a few advantages such as painless updating, but Apple's choice to feature-restrict it drops my interest to zero. However. The app-store gives Bare Bones' products great exposure and advertising especially to potential new customers, which I suspect is well worth the 30% vig. All die-hard users like myself have owned BBEdit for ages and have only paid upgrade fees for years. I think my last upgrade (to 9.0) cost about $30.00 U.S. So by comparison a $70.00 gross per unit plus the increase in sales is likely to keep Rich, Patrick, and Co. in the smile-zone for some time. In any case I'll keep buying my upgrades direct unless and until using the app-store becomes genuinely in my best interest (if they ever decide to manage upgrades that is). -- Best Regards, Chris -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "BBEdit Talk" discussion group on Google Groups.
