When was HTML 4.01 transitional relevant? 1999? What are you transitioning from 
(HTML 3.2) and what are you transitioning to? (HTML 4.01 Strict or HTML5).

I would say that if the page throws errors on HTML 4.01 Strict it is broken, 
and if you are going to fix it, you are best served fixing it to HTML5.

You're looking at it the wrong way, to my mind. All 232 errors are *errors* and 
all should be fixed.

that few errors.
