Good morning,

I followed that link before posting. I can't see what changed

changed between those two official releases.
I think you're confusing official releases and pre-releases. The
releases you quoted above are not official releases; they are
pre-release builds. The link you had visited (but failed to tell
us so we got to waste time helping you with something you
already knew) is for changes between official releases.
I am used to BBEdit beta releases having the build number in
the name of the the downloaded file. That's a great policy.
Which is still the case. All the pre-release builds I have
downloaded include the build number.
But it is rare or unheard of for BareBones to release two different
official releases using the same file name and same main version
number.
OK, you know something I don't. What are the two official
releases you are referring to.
When I downloaded the new official 10.5.6 release (3342) I found it had
the same filename as the first official 10.5.6 release (3340). It's a
pity. Users can't tell what they have without opening the dmg and
looking inside. I think many users will think they are up-to-date when
they are not. (In fact I saw a posting today from somebody that I think
is confused by this).
My crystal ball is broken, and I have no idea what downloads
(pre-release or official) that you are referring to. If you
would like to share some specifics with us then someone may be
able to clarify for you.
I'm not being difficult; based on the info you have supplied I
honestly don't see where the confusion is. Please share some
links or other specifics so we can follow along.
I think your posting was needlessly insulting and it does not
answer my question.
Since you didn't quote anyone, I'm just guessing (which I'm
getting tired of doing) that you're referring to me.
I don't think I was insulting; I gave the information I believed
was relevant based on the details supplied. Eg. nothing you said
indicated you had the link for the official release change
notes, so I supplied it. I then suggested where you could get
"more fine-grained" release notes. I am still honestly confused
as to why that didn't answer your question; obviously I don't
understand what you're asking.
You may not have liked my *attitude*, and that's not surprising
since I find it frustrating to offer useful help for vague
questions. An insult would be something more along the lines of
"I won't keep feeding the trolls".
So I'm sorry that I was unable to decipher your real issue and
therefor did my best to give useful information but still
failed. Maybe someone else here will be able to figure out what
you're really looking for and direct you to the change notes you
can't find.
