What do I want out of this thread? Reread my OP. Workarounds!
Copy/Pasting into/out of Yojimbo/Evernote won't solve the
problem, for reasons I mentioned (thanks for the suggestion,
though). Anything else? Any non-crusties who've even partially
solved this problem without saving every single nascent
scratchy, tenuous, in-progress doc to disk, and praying
Spotlight can retrieve it later?
So, the suggestion I gave, which adds *one* single keystroke to
the workflow, isn't acceptable. Why, because it's not built in
to BBEdit?
Do you have an irrational fear of AppleScript? Is there some
other reason that solutions involving AppleScript are not
satisfactory for you? Every user of BBEdit I've conversed with
has their own personal library of scripts to make their workflow
do what they want.
The BBSW developers have included (by far) the best AppleScript
support I've seen, just so that users like you can achieve their
desired workflow. I suggest you read the manual, learn to use
the tool to get as close as you can to what you want. Then ask
on this list for assistance to get script(s) doing exactly what
you want.
I used to accept an extra key shortcut or two to achieve my
desired workflow. With the addition of Menu Scripts and
Attachment Scripts, many of those key shortcuts are not even needed.
Learn to use the tool. After you've done that, if there are
still "holes" then talk to the list about improving your scripts.
There are heaps of really helpful people on this list. The best
way to take advantage of that help is to be a bit flexible with
the methodology.
