In a nutshell, what I need to know is if there is a Terminal command
to set BBEdit’s default behaviour, so that hitting the Return key in
the search window will result in the cursor advancing to the next line
so that I can add more text before beginning my search, instead of
immediately initiating the search, when the Return key is pressed.
The short answer is that BBEdit does not support manually adding
'soft' line breaks within either documents or the Find window --
though since the contents of the "Find" and "Replace" fields
automatically soft wrap, that shouldn't be necessary if you're
just inserting running text.
If however you do need to add 'hard' line break(s) into your
search and/or replace strings, you can use the special
characters \n or \r as they're not limited to grep patterns.
