Did have a problem with FC8 - under relatively heavy loads, enough packets
would be quietly dropped (with no log entries at all) such that NFS or
X -query would stop working for a while. This was on a 2.6.24 kernel using
the 2.6.25 firmware (don't ask!). An update to 2.6.25 fixed the problem
(note that Fedora doesn't seem to ship BCM firmware), and it worked
flawlessly for days at a time!
However, after upgrading to FC9, the load problem reappeared. Reinstalling
the correct firmware for the kernel doesn't seem to fix the problem. However,
rebooting with 2.6.25.6-27.fc8 works just fine, so it seems it really is
just the kernel that makes a difference...
Original kernel (with load problem) 2.6.24.3-50.fc8
Updated FC8 kernel that worked fine 2.6.25.6-27.fc8
FC9 kernel (that has the regression) 2.6.25.6-55.fc9.x86_64
The following probably won't help much, but since you ask...

The AP is a D-Link 624 about 3 meters from the laptop, Link Quality=92/100
Signal level:-56 dBm Noise level=-64 dBm; no other APs within 1KM of here.
NFS and X -query work fine over wired LAN.

P.S. On a recent trip on the East coast of the US along I95, I was able to
use my M6805 laptop in many locations, only just once having to resort to
MSWXP. Can't thank you enough for making this possible! Your efforts are
much appreciated...
