Thank you all for the prompt replies. Crushing ants and making an ant
tea won't work because we want to avoid killing any ants. I suppose we
could look for dead ants, but that may be a hit or miss situation.
Something to look into, nonetheless.  Yes, being a residential landscape
this is a mademade environment in the midst of a semi-tropical
rainforest and is thus out of balance with the native leaf cutters who
love even native plants.  I actually was more interested in getting
feedback on the companion planting of pennyroyal with roses and anyone's
experience with leaf cutters and this mint family member. Any Brasilian
readers on this list?
