When the subject of ants came up here last time (fire ants, I think it was), I recall learning that an over-abundance of ants indicates a formic acid imbalance in the soil and that the ants are actually nature's way of trying to correct this. If this is so, wouldn't you want to use a formic acid card in your field broadcaster (to set the pattern) rather than pepper away the ants?
