Hi Srini,   This is NOT a bug in SQL Server 2000. This is by design that you get this 
type of output. But the very next question you would jump is how can I get the same 
output as Oracle. Well, here is how we go:   If you are using the Query Analyzer 
Window (isqlw) Goto tools -> Options -> Connection Properties -> Un-Check "Set 
Concat_Null_Yields_Null" checkbox  and now run your query and see.   Alternatively you 
can also use the:   SET CONCAT_NULL_YIELDS_NULL OFF Select Lname +''+...   This would 
also give you the result you expect. Understand that there are some settings like 
these and Ansi_NULL that have an impact on the execution pattern. And it is because of 
this reason that you need to set it at the connection level.   Hope I've made this
