----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on BDOTNET
----------------------------------------------------------- From: VinodK [TLabs, SCT] Message 2 in Discussion Hi Srini, This is NOT a bug in SQL Server 2000. This is by design that you get this type of output. But the very next question you would jump is how can I get the same output as Oracle. Well, here is how we go: If you are using the Query Analyzer Window (isqlw) Goto tools -> Options -> Connection Properties -> Un-Check "Set Concat_Null_Yields_Null" checkbox and now run your query and see. Alternatively you can also use the: SET CONCAT_NULL_YIELDS_NULL OFF Select Lname +''+... This would also give you the result you expect. Understand that there are some settings like these and Ansi_NULL that have an impact on the execution pattern. And it is because of this reason that you need to set it at the connection level. Hope I've made this easy to understand.
