It works because u can run a ASP page also on dotnet plotform (remember we r using IIS as our webserver). Onmore thing i can tell u in aspx page try to use <%="hello"%>. It still works. It's a flexibility to use asp as well in a dotnet environment. But they have seperated the code from the presentation page and there we are allowed to use any dotnet complaint language but not a script. In Page Dir we specify the language name so that it is considered as the default language. U can write C# in aspx page as well. Hope this helps u.
