Hi Vijay, I think the pointer from Srini is one place where you can get an idea
about SQLXML. Basically SQLXML enhanced the capability of using XML for the SQL Server
2000 world itself giving you templates and URL based queries. The SQLXML 3.0 version
has also got a managed provider and these are optimized to talk to SQL Server ...
And as far as scenarios are concerned. Well there are multiple advantages you get
while using SQLXML. You need not have to write XML conversion specific code in your
database as V 3.0 has a capability to convert rowset into XML from your web service.
This adds an unique advantage as I can use any datasource (SQL or Oracle or anything
for that matter) and yet recieve a XML format using the SQLXML OLEDB provider.
Interesting isn't it... Building datasource agnostic apps is easy while using SQLXML.
I can expose my SQL Server stored Procedures as a Web Service using Version 3.0 ...
This removes the complexity for me to expose my SQL Server to my clients outside the
firewall ... These are some of the features I can think are of practical relevance
.... There are tons of such features you can capitalize on ... Some resources you
can find are: http://www.extremeexperts.com/ExpertChat/sql/xmlcapabilities.aspx
