Thanks for the reply vinod. I was going through
some of the old threads on SQLXML and got confused with the saju's
reply that Oracle supports SQLXML and wanted to know upto what extent it
supports. Not sure what saju meant by 'Oracle also supports' in his reply
!!!

What I can understand from your reply is that
SQLXML does not support Oracle and I am also of the same view and we will
have to look for other capabilities to support multiple database. BTW, I have an
application done through SQLXML using updategrams and client now wants to
support Oracle, what will be the best approach you feel in this scenario. Let me
know your views on this.

Thanks in advance.

                Hi
                Rajesh,

Understand that basically SQLXML was developed
primarily to extend the capabilities of using SQL Server.
And having said that the features in store were in
line for them only. Esp. the ones that you have mentioned like
updategrams and diffgrams. Even for a simple matter of fact the
normal configuration screen in IIS allows access to SQL Server
                only.

                Did
I get closer to your question ... And such requests
have been heard and from SQLXML 3.0 version there are other
capabilities that allow us to query different Datasources
also. But now that is only at the programming skill level.
You can use the "Client-side XML" formatting and query
any datasource (eg Oracle) and format them as XML at the
client by recieving row-sets from the provider.

                So surely the technology is
catching the market and more interoperability have been
provided. But understand they are primarily very effective for
                SQL Server for sure ...
