Hi Pratap, 
    Serializable is for locking the dataset while updating the database(in 
transaction), but Sathessh question is bit different, 
     Satheesh you can solve this in one way, 
your case is , suppose two users opened the same record, first user updated, 
immediately second user also updated means, second user will overwrite the the first 
user .  
     You can create one boolean(bit) column in database table like edited, when first 
user opened the record for updation, u just update that column(Edited=1), now second 
user tries to open the same record , check this flag,if it's set then say some 
user(you can displayuser name also) already opened this record, please wait for 
sometime... 
      If something happend when somebody opened this record(for eg., power went off or 
network failure), you can provide control screen to disable this flag
