hmm I should have tried to screen the /dev/ port, but I didnt. Actually
most of the time when I connected the BBB to my MacBook Pro late 2013
running 10.10.2, it would cause my macbook to reboot. Luckily I got the bbb
with LCD screen up and running ssh'ing with my windows laptop, got it
connected to the wifi, and now I can ssh into it from my macbook through
its LAN IP
