One tab over, on Software Configurations. You need to figure out which
Application Policy is applicable to the user's handheld.

Hmm, okay. In my BES Manager console I click on the BlackBerry Domain >
Software Config Status. Now I see the only entry in this field is the
user Ive been talking about. The fields (and responses) are below: Is
this what im looking for>?

*       Status - Request Error
* Username - the users' name
*       Status Message - (Reserved)
*       Time Queued - 2/23/2009 4:45:49 PM

Weird thing, its not even 4:45 PM here in Napa, CA yet!

Thanks!

(FYI, that must be Platform 4.0.0.136; all Storms use OS 4.7.something)

The BES Admin needs to check the Application Policy applied to that
handheld, which you can find in the Software Configurations area. The
Application Policy applied ends up being the highest level allowed; for
example, if Phone access is set to "Prompt Users" in the policy, then
"Allow" can never be chosen.

Subject: [Bes-admins] Visual voice Mail on Verizon Storm

Hello All,

I have a user that is attempting to use this feature on her personal BB
on our BES. Her OS level on the Storm is 4.0.0.136.

This is the error that she gets below:

I would like to enable visual voicemail but I get a message that says
"Required permission for Visual Voicemail cannot be set probably due to
IT policy restrictions, Phone needs Allow, Please consult with your
system admin."

We've tried:

*       Resending Service Books
* On her phone. Options > Security Options > Application
Permissions > Visual Voicemail (Edit Permissions) We tried to change
the Connections to ALLOW, however it wont change over, stays on CUSTOM
(assuming this is from IT Policy...we just cant locate where the policy
is!)
* Security Policy Group\Allow Split Pipe Connections to TRUE (Via
BES)
*       Reloading OS
