I use google maps for all my devices, regardless of carrier. I also uninstall BlackBerry Maps to free up some space. Diane ********************* Sent from my Blackberry

But after getting a new curve, RIP, now it does not lock a signal on google or bb maps. I called Verizon to see what happened and they told me that Verizon gps for 8330 never worked, which was wrong. So does the gps for the curve still works or is it just this phone. I have had several users the same way. I know for a fact that Google Maps works with device GPS with the Curve, Storm, Storm2, and Tour. I’m pretty sure it also worked with the 8830. Verizon users are stuck with BB Maps thanks to the VZW GPS lockdown, although Google Maps will use cell towers (in the absence of GPS) to triangulate your approximate location. Most of the Google Apps are web-based and not native apps by themselves, so I don’t see any real security risk in allowing it. This application requires certain permissions to be changed on the device, that we currently do not allow. Is anyone else allowing this application? And if so, what security risks are involved? Thanks Kevin
