There's two useful aspects to the dictionary: (1) As a historical record, and
(2) As a concise reference. It used to be that one copy of the dictionary could serve both purposes. That is no longer the case. Sadly, though, that currently means that we are losing it as a concise reference. NuVoc is useful in other ways, but it is not the dictionary of J, even though its organization and structure are somewhat influenced by the dictionary.
