What I was complaining about above was the opposite - when I
"unintentionally" (or intentionally, thinking of my usual habits)
include a copied EOL in an IDE paste - the line is stuffed into
the session and then, after copying it down, I have two copies
of it in my work area - ugly.
(Not to counter the point, but of practical matter)
You don't have to copy it down, you can just back-space
the trailing EOL, thus removing the last empty line,
and the line containing text will become excutable.
But in general, it's a matter of habit. I have even
stronger feelings about vi and emacs.
In J at least you don't have to switch between modes
and count the words before you delete them. :)
Ahh, thank you for tutoring me on how to use the IDE ijx
window - at least for a single line copy. Of course, it
isn't restricted to my paste, but could be a prior line -
nice? Not in my opinion. I think the confusion between
treating session history as a live "editor document" is
at least as strange as the quirks of emacs and vi -- but
I certainly agree with you about them having frustration
inducing quirks! Neither is for the faint of heart...
