I got hold of Visual.....(x86), as far as I can tell it installed (there
were some screens). As far as I can tell the same for vcredist_x86.exe.
Start j602 installer, it asks for vcredist..., even though it is (in
theory) installed. Push next and the installer vanishes.
Go back to Microsoft, they have an up-date that 'fixes' visual c++2005 for
Vista (what I run). That won't install it says some esoteric message that
means nothing (though I could copy it down if you wish).
I had no trouble installing j602 on my desk-top, runs XP (SP2)
I'll try different order of installing re visual and vcredist, just in
case, but I have no choice but 601 (which I did keep on the Vista system)
And understand I'm happy with 601.

Sorry, here comes more information:
The installer j602abeta_win.exe starts and the window "Jsoftware J602
Install" opens. Pressing the Next-button brings orders to install
vcredist_x86.exe (I have already installed). Pressing OK closes the window
without installation.
What happens when you run vcredist_x86.exe? Do you get a window showing the
installation, or does it run silently - the latter means it fails.
Also, you should ensure that you have a recent version. The latest is dated
8/27/2007. In microsoft.com, search for:
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86).
