Just to report a test installation of the new beta
on my intel Mac. I just did the standard install in
~/jsoftware/j602 and things seem to be working OK --
haven't tested much yet, however. Starting ./jwd there
were a couple of messages:
2007-09-30 12:22:32.390 java[980] CFLog (0): CFMessagePort:
bootstrap_register(): failed 1103 (0x44f), port = 0x10503, name =
'java.ServiceProvider'
See /usr/include/servers/bootstrap_defs.h for the error codes.
2007-09-30 12:22:32.393 java[980] CFLog (99): CFMessagePortCreateLocal():
failed to name Mach port (java.ServiceProvider)
I do think the manner of install is likely to confuse users. If I
had not been following the discussion, I would have had no idea that
I was to chmod the .bin file and execute it for the install. Could the
download at least unpack into a folder with a README as well as the
.bin?
Patrick
P.S. The package manager works flawlessly.
