IIRC newline (not CRLF or LF) was used in the html standard, apache
accepts both CRLF and LF, while IIS only accept CRLF. Most browsers accepts
both.

I can see nothing wrong with 204 which mean success but no content, it may
well be written as (for debugging),

html204=: 0 : 0
HTTP/1.1 204 OK
Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8
You should not see this message. If you do, your browser does not implement 
status codes correctly.
