Will think about ways of checking, hopefully someone will have a bright idea. I don't have any objection to having git gui installed, and did so once I worked out what the issue was. I was really just highlighting that it may be confusing for users (as it was for me) to have a menu item that doesn't appear to do anything or give any feedback.
