This problem has been around for a long time. I have five units (all
SB2) and I get the problem only on the wireless connected units.
Placing additional wireless repeaters seems to help but doesn't solve
the problem. I am considering hard wiring the house rather than suffer
this irritation. One thing I have noticed (having recently moved house)
is that not only does the mircowave effect playback (it's common
knowledge that a microwave produces noise at a similar freq to the
wireless network so will effect reception)but now the central heating
boiler can stop the SB2 when it starts (The boiler is midway between
the access point and the SB2) possibly due to the piezo starter? All
this points to interference with the wireless newtork.
The unit in the garage was rather odd as it was showing a signal
strength varying from <30% to >90% even though nothing was moving. The
signal strength was OK during the day but by mid afternoon it had all
be fallen to zero. I've now placed a repeater about 8m (the original AP
was ~15m) and that has improved the situation significantly.
