I noticed that after updating my server to iTunes 7.2, forcing tags to be updated and adding new music, the new tracks/albums weren't appearing.
In the Beginner forum I contributed to another thread outlining my procedure for getting all tracks showing up properly (having to use an older 7.1.1 iTunes to force re-writing the xml file). I just found some additional incompatibilities though. Seems like something has changed in the way iTunes writes its custom tags to as MP3 comment blocks. SlimServer properly recognizes AlbumArtist iTunes tags for older versions, but if you make any changes with the new iTunes you may see in Song Info in the web interface that Album Artist is no longer displayed for the touched tracks. And you'll notice " iTunPGAP 0" or similar now listed as a comment. This appears to only affect some of the tracks I just modified. Which is even more puzzling. Another strange one is that I just added two albums of Twin Peaks soundtracks. One from the TV show and one from the movie. Both are tagged the same way. AlbumArtist = "Angelo Badalamenti" with each track having a Track Artist which may include something like "Angelo Badalamenti feat. Julee Cruise" The TV album used to have a title of "Soundtrack from Twin Peaks" and for some reason was not being listed under the A's in Browse by Artist, Year, Album. Instead it was listed in the Various Artists section. I've verified that the tag details for these two albums are using only the same tag fields and their data is mostly the same. Inspecting Song Info for one of the TV songs lists the following role tags: Album Artist: Angelo Badalamenti Artist: Angelo Badalamenti feat. Julee Cruise Band/Orchestra: Angelo Badalamenti Track Artist: Angelo Badalamenti feat. Julee Cruise Wow, 4 of them. The movie soundtrack (again, tagged in the same way with iTunes) doesn't list "Artist" I think it's time to flip back to iTunes 7.1.1 and try to mass update everything and then scan from scratch to see if everything resolves itself. -- MelonMonkey Bruno *'Twisted Melon - Fine Mac OS Software' (http://twistedmelon.com) | 'mira - Personal Control for your Apple Remote' (http://twistedmelon.com)* ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MelonMonkey's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8466 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=36121 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta
