Hi MelonMonkey, Thanks for your help. It does seem to be something with the latest iTunes. I have tried changing everything back and forth with limited success. With iTunes 6 and Slimserver 6.5.1 I did not have these problems. With the latest versions, I am now seeing similar problems to you, but have not seen the strange Comment field problem that you have seen.
However, given that most iTunes users will be moving to the latest version, this problem is going to cause increasing problems. It does not seem sustainable to go back to earlier versions - there are some enhancements in the latest versions that I like and want to keep. I will be the first to admit that I do not know enough about what is going on under the surface to cause these problems, however I hope that Slimserver can be adjusted to cope. It must be frustrating to change to cope with changes imposed for no apparent reason by Apple - but that seems to be what we are stuck with. The bottom line is that with the latest version of iTunes and Slimserver, the AlbumArtist tag is not being recognised properly. For AAC and Apple Lossless files it is being ignored completely, for MP3 it is being classified as Band/Orchestra. The option to 'List Albums by Band' is no longer working, and this is causing problems with the album listing and the player display. I hope that this can be fixed, because it is very frustrating that something that worked with earlier versions of both pieces of software is now broken. For what it is worth, I still find iTunes to be the easiest, most natural and - at least from my point of view - best way of managing my music library. I know others suggest more esoteric solutions - but I would like Slimserver to work in the mainstream. Otherwise, I am afraid that Sonos may take over....
