Maybe "--- " in the directory name is a problem (although it shouldn't be). Try renaming them to "mp3" and "lossless".
And please check the scanner and server log files. Does the scanner start? There are debugging flags you can set (within the SC web interface and also in /volume1/SSODS/etc/ssods/ssods.conf). What does the scanner status display (in the SC web interface) say?
