Markus, I think you may be conflating some very different issues
here... if the cpu is maxed out that could cause stuttering anywhere in
a track, and it would be alleviated by things like turning off
replaygain or the visualizer. 

However, that doesn't sound like the case here. If you hear static at
the beginning of a track it nearly always indicates that the music file
is not being parsed correctly, or that some material which is not audio
is being played as if it were. This is further supported by the fact
that disabling other things which might be loading cpu/memory does not
make any difference, and also that the behavior is repeatable.

The first step here is to look at these files and figure out if there's
something unusual about them that might be confusing SlimServer or FLAC.
Transcoding is also a good thing to try, but for somewhat different
reasons. It could still be a load issue but that is not what these
symptoms suggest.
