I spent some time last Sunday trying to install SC7 on the latest Solaris Express. Setting up MySQL was OK as it's now built in. The problem that I have come up against is that I cannot get the perl module Encode-Detect to build. This module seems to be required by SC7 so I can't get any further until I fix the problem.
If I try to build it using Sunfreeware perl 5.8.8 and Sunfreeware gcc 3.4.6 it stops with the error: In file included from /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.8/i86pc-solaris/CORE/ perl.h:1195, from Detector.xs:40: /usr/include/sys/mode.h:49: error: use of enum `vtype' without previous declaration error building lib/Encode/Detect/Detector.o from 'lib/Encode/Detect/ Detector.c' at /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/ExtUtils/CBuilder/ Base.pm line 109. *** Error code 2 make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `all' /usr/bin/make -- NOT OK I have also tried using the Blastwave perl 5.8.8 with the Sun compiler but that fails with the message: cc: Warning: illegal option -x cc: No input file specified, no output generated error building src/LangBulgarianModel.o from 'src/LangBulgarianModel.cpp' at /opt/csw/share/perl/site_perl/ExtUtils/CBuilder/Base.pm line 108. *** Error code 2 make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `all' /usr/ccs/bin/make -- NOT OK I get the same results if I try to install the module using CPAN. All other modules install OK so it doesn't look like a problem with my configuration. I have opened a ticket with the owner of the perl module (http://rt.cpan.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=33335) but it looks like the last code update was a long time ago so I'm not too hopeful. If you do manage to get any further than me, please do let me know as getting SC7 working is the last thing preventing me moving all my music onto zfs.
