There's already a bug, and a change that was checked in without comment from anyone. That's not unexpected, as few people are going to test all the random patches posted in the hundreds of enhancement requests in bugzilla. Maybe the prudent thing to do would be to revert the change before it's released in such a poorly thought-out manner.
