Ok, that could have fixed it for Music IP, but not for eg, replaygain
file mods or any other tinkering with the music files.  Even SC's own
Wiki on MP3Tag advises removing ID3V1 tags and writing ID3V2 tags.  OK,
fine, but you do that and all your files change their dates.  

I appreciate your quick response, but you missed my general point.  For
now I have moved all 'new music' into a 'new music' master folder.  In
there, I screw around using MP3tag to modify MP3's so that their tag
dates are adjusted to 'new'.  For the FLAC's, I use an application to
change the 'folder/file date-time'.  For reasons best left alone, I
deleted all APE tags (replaygain settings).  Ask me if I ever have to
apply replaygain again what will it do to my files?  I like the 'new
music' folder, but it doesn't work on the basis of file date.
