My library is in FLAC format, disc images, external cuesheets generated using EAC. The FLAC files end up having tags for REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_PEAK, REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_GAIN, REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_PEAK, REPLAYGAIN_ALBUM_GAIN, Album, Artist, Genre, and Date. The cuesheets have the track information, PERFORMER, TITLE, and REM tags for GENRE, DATE, and DISCID. Back a couple years ago when I was using Slimserver 6.x, I started to plough through the library converting artist names from "lastname, firstname" to "firstname lastname" and adding to the FLAC file "Artistsort=lastname, firstname". The server sorted these fine until I moved to 7.0. At 7.0 some artists were sorted and some weren't, with no apparent pattern. I have set this problem aside figuring it would get resolved eventually. It crossed my mind the other day. I now see that in 7.2.1 all Artistsort tags are ignored. I think I must be missing something obvious. I know the external cuesheet can cause the scanner to do odd things if tags in the cuesheet don't match tags in the FLAC file (e.g. Album, Artist). Maybe the issue with Artistsort has something to do with this. At one point I tried putting a 'REM ARTISTSORT "lastname, firstname"' in the cuesheets, but no joy. Questions: 1. Does somebody have a similar setup working and see something in the above that needs to be changed? (I really would prefer to keep external cuesheets, as I find the online databases sometimes have typos etc. and these are straightforward to fix in a cuesheet using a text editor.) 2. Why should synchronization of cuesheets and internal FLAC tags matter? If a particular tag exists both in a cuesheet and a FLAC file, shouldn't the scanner just treat one as having precedence and ignore the other? -- stephenkca ------------------------------------------------------------------------ stephenkca's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7820 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53954 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta
