>My suspicion is that the ARTISTSORT tag in >the FLAC is getting overridden by the cuesheet, either by the PERFORMER >tag for the whole disc or by the PERFORMER tag for the individual cut. I imagine you are right. SC will take the individual track performer. If you had a compilation album described with a cue sheet, there is no way to specify an artistsort for each performer.
I think that if you didn't have a performer tag for each song, it would use the FLAC file ARTIST tag, and then probably use the ARTISTSORT. >(The code seems to convert PERFORMER into ARTIST, if I understand it >correctly.) Yes, that would be my guess. >I'd be happy to insert an ARTISTSORT (TRACKARTISTSORT?) >into the cuesheet, but none of my digging has turned up any example of >how that could be done, if in fact there is a way to do it. Cuesheets are very limited. There's hardly any official tags (or documentation at all, actually). Some apps seem to support extra information in the form of REM statements (comments), eg. REM PERFORMERSORT=XXX. You could perhaps file an enhancement request to add some tag support to cuesheets like that. Perhaps do some research to see if any other app has anything similar first to be compatible with their system (I doubt you will find anything though). I've given up with cuesheets, and now rip to FLAC individual files. Other reasons for this are that FLAC works gapless, and also MusicIP can scan each track as an individual song, so songs are mixable (whole albums as a single FLAC don't work well for mixing).
