ARTISTSORT tags are working fine for me still. In the web UI, if you go into song information for a song that hasn't got the right artist sorting, does it show "Artist" or "Album Artist" and "Track Artist"? Are you using id3v2.3 tags in your files? If you have, and you have chosen "Treat TPE2 MP3 tag as Album Artist" in Settings > Music Library, then some of your songs may now have superfluous Album Artist information, so they will be listed under the album artist tag, rather than artist, and perhaps ARTISTSORT is not being used as a result.
