Sorry, I didn't phrase my question clearly enough. I do understand that you can't connect a serial cable directly, and that there's a special board that connects to the Controller. Robin has kindly offered to lend his to me.
My understanding is that this board has a serial connector. Therefore: can I use a standard serial cable between my PC's COM port and the SBC's add-on board, rather than a USB-DB9 adaptor as described in the wiki? (I'm guessing the wiki says this in the expectation that most people only have USB ports). bpa;380406 Wrote: > However as kdf pointed out - there is a software tool needed to update > the nvram and also a valid uuid needs to be allocated. I believe this is no longer true. Reading other threads, it seems that some intermediate firmwares gave the error message and then allowed you to continue - at which point the Controller would talk to your local SqueezeCenter but not SqueezeNetwork. However, when I updated to 7.3.1, the Controller firmware it installed ended up giving the error message *but no way to continue*. The Controller was rendered completely inoperable. (I managed to back the firmware out and have returned to SC 7.0 for the time being). -- cliveb Transporter -> ATC SCM100A ------------------------------------------------------------------------ cliveb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=348 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49519 _______________________________________________ beta mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta
